It’s Workshop Time!

Hey Folks!  It’s that time of year again.  It’s workshop time!

I’ve been receiving numerous requests to host my Beauty Workshop again this year.  It was such a success that I seem to be having some students taking it over and over again.  The one benefit of taking this workshop is that you get to use the images for your portfolio and the images from the previous two have been fantastic.  Even the agencies are happy with the results, which makes me very proud knowing that all of my students did so well considering most won’t be pursuing fashion photography.  The idea is to learn how to interact and direct your subject.  Be it a seasoned model or a relative.  It’s more about the ease of directing and gaining confidence as you shoot.  There were many great responses from all sides.

If you’re a returning student, I look forward to seeing you again!  If you’re someone who hasn’t taken this workshop yet then please do consider.  You will greatly benefit!

Portrait Project – Rob

Nadia Cheema © 2012

Before the holidays arrived I had been debating about my work in photography.  I’m still shooting Fashion because I love it, but I first got into photography because I loved shooting people….. not just accessories and dresses and hats and oh my!  People have always fascinated me and shooting fashion has helped me to gain confidence in directing people during a shoot and planning the shoot ahead of time.  There are times where ideas come on the day of the shoot, but I always walk in prepared prior to it.   So I felt like I wanted to photograph portraiture again… but with my style.

I’d like to introduce to you all my first image for this project.  There will be more as I will be building a collection with this.  Mixture of black & white and color.  I’m hoping to do a gallery show in the future featuring these lovely, confident, inspiring folks whom I’ve either have met recently or have known for a loooooong time.  More to follow in future posts!

Cheers…..

ps:  people have been asking me about the Beauty Workshop and wondering when I’ll be hosting another one.  I’m planning on running it in February sometime again.  So stay tuned!

PLAID Magazine – Winter Issue 2012

I was asked by PLAID Magazine (Canadian based) to shoot a story for their Winter print issue.  I was given the opportunity to work with a plus size model!  Very excited about that.  Our lovely model’s name is Berkley and she’s signed on with Spot 6 Management.  They are a fantastic agency and so is the model.  She was great to work and so was the rest of the team assembled by PLAID.  The shoot went by smoothly and I’m happy with the results:
